As we celebrate out mom's birthday our family got our way to one of the family friendly locations north - Baguio. Known for its cold weather and wonderful flowers and sites to visit, we were treated to days of great fun and enjoyment.
For starters we have visited the usual locations every tourist visit in the province. Baguio has become iconic with the Lion Head situated at Kennon Road. You know for sure that you are in Baguio if you see this great landmark which is a regular picture spot for people arriving the province.
Valley of Colors or commonly known as The Colors of Stobosa is a sight to behold. These lovely and colorful houses erected at the hillside is a site to behold and provides a great background to your selfies and groufies. Truly an amazing place to visit.
Also one of the more iconic places to visit is the Baguio Cathedral or Our Lady of the Atonement Cathedral. It is just adjacent to the iconic Session Road and boast of its distinctive pink exterior, twin spires and stained glass windows. Just nearby you can also visit SM Baguio which prides itself for being operated without aircondition.
The Burnham Park is a commonly visited location for families as well. Aside from the several stores where you can buy lots of stuff, you are treated to a great location surrounded by trees, flowers and nature situated at the middle of the city proper. We had a great time as well riding the bikes with several other tourists.
The Baguio Botanical Garden is also one place one should visit together with the nearby Wright Park and The Mansion. It has been refurbished and made more beautiful this year which makes going around a joy to every individual. One should try looking and marveling around and be one with the nature.
Another famous location is Mines View Park which is famous for its overlooking site of Baguio. It is a famous selfie location for all tourists and also a location for photo ops with horses, Ifugao costumes and the cute St. Bernard dogs. A bit further, one can buy delicacies while giving back to the people in need at the Good Shepherd Convent.
A bit further away the city, you can also visit La Trinidad and Strawberry Farm. Be sure to have cash on hand to but lots of stuff like vegetables, strawberries and other souvenirs at low prices that i after your regular ukay ukay shopping and souvenir scavenging at the Night Market.
We stayed at Azalea Hotels & Residences Baguio and despite some issues along the way, I would say this is one of the best locations you can stay for a great relaxation and family bonding. We did try a lot of food choices around the area but once there you can try to wait in lines at the famous "Good Taste" which is both delicious and cheap or try their famous Cafe de Batirol. I highly recommend "Canto" as well as its food is tasty and really makes you want for more. Also a good try is the affordable yet delicious 50s Diner.
If you have more time to spare, be sure to visit BenCab Museum for the artsy one, try out extreme adventure rides at the Tree Top Adventure, go "ghost" hunting at the old Diplomat Hotel and also drop by Camp John Hay for more pictures.
The Baguio trip is definitely a blast and we can't wait to return for it in the future.
