The Philippines made big waves in the sporting world in 2019 with several great performances in World Championships, local and international tourneys and of course the landslide over-all championships in SEA Games 2019 in the country. And these ladies have all made their marks in the year that was.

The Filipina boxer won gold in the featherweight division at the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships becoming the 2nd Pinay boxer to do the feat after Josie Gabuco in 2012. She later on stomped her class at the 2019 Southeast Asian where she won the gold.
2. Alex Eala

Young tennis protege Alex Eala keeps on getting better. The Filipina finished 2019 ranked Top 9 after a strong second round showing at the US Open Girls Division which is her first major grand slam draw. The 14 year old will keep her dreams high this year as she prepares for the Australian Open.

Hidilyn finally won a SEA Games gold medal and it could not come at a better timing in front of her home crowd supporters. She next focuses her sights on another Olympic berth in 2020 in Japan.
4. Kristina Marie Knott

Philippines now has a new sprint queen. Knott rewrote history books as she won the fold at the 200 meters event establishing a new SEA Games record of 23.01. Knott also won a gold medal in the 4x100-meter mixed relay event and two silver medals in the women's 100-meter sprint and 4x100-meter relay.
5. Jaja Santiago

Jaja missed the chance of representing the country at the SEA Games but she continued her great run showing her great attacking and blocking skills in the pro leagues. Her year was highlighted with her continuously playing in the Japan pro leagues.
6. Alyssa Valdez

The phenom made another trip donning the national colors at the SEA Games. And although the team failed to snag a medal in the process, she remains to be one of the well regarded volleyball stars of the country. Her Creamline Cool Smashers team grabbed one championship and a runner-up in 2019.

It was an emotional year for the talented hoopster. She made herself shine with 2 gold medals for the women's basketball squad at the SEA Games taking the first ever gold at the 3x3 tournament and then finally ending the series of failed gold medal attempts at the 5x5 competitions.
