The Mighty Indonesian Men's badminton team reigned supreme once more at the recently concluded Asian Badminton Team Championship in Manila. The Indonesian team was favored once more after the withdrawal of the strong Chinese and Hong Kong teams due to the scare of the recent corona virus in China. The victory however did not come at an ease. The preliminaries saw them drop a point against South Korea with Jonathan Christie losing his singles tussle against Son Wan-ho.
They faced home crowd Philippines in the quarterfinals which they easily handled but was forced to go the distance against India during the semifinals. Christie once more lost his match and 3rd singles player Shesar Hiren Rhustavito also dropped his match setting them up at a tie 2-2. The doubles No.1 pair of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo secured a finals slot for the team. In the finals they met Malaysia and was forced to 4 games with Christie again losing his singles encounter.
