The RP Team had its high hopes shattered as it absorbed losses against superior teams in the recently concluded 2010 Jones Cup last July 14-20, 2010 in Taipei. The RP Team finished fourth overall in the event that drew 7 teams with a 3-3 win loss record. The RP Gilas Team is using this as a preparation for the upcoming Asian Games later this year. The Philippines won over the Taiwanese national team, Taiwan University All-Stars and the Townsville Crocodiles from Australia but lost to pwer houses Lebanon and eventual champion Iran. It also absorbed a heartbreaking lost to Japan in a game where they had chances of winning. National team coach Rajko Toroman (former Iran national team coach) said howver that they were happy by the results as they were able to assess their current status as to whether they can beat the big guns on the coming Asian Games. The road may be tough but they say it can be done.
