It is again the Philippines that reigned supreme in The Amazing Race Asia. On the 5th season of the well loved reality show, a Pinoy Team won for the second straight edition as beauty queens Maggie Wilson-Consuji and Parul Shah touched down the final mat at the final pit stop. The girls bested 10 other teams from different countries in a race within Asia.
They finished ahead of another beauty queen pair from Malaysia Chloe Chen and Lee Yvonne in a hotly contested final race in Indonesia. Well loved Filipino pair husband and wife Eric Tai and Rona Samson finished third to make it 2 teams in the Top 3 for the Philippines.
In the gripping finale, Maggie and Parul arrived first at the pit stop in Bali with just minutes to spare having survived challenges in six countries, 12 cities and over 12,000 kilometers, beating 10 other teams to claim the ultimate US$100,000 cash prize.
The winnings of the pair has been vocally announced to be used for the therapy of Parul's father. The win by the ladies have somehow taken out the stereotype on beauty queens and proved that even ladies with such finesse and grace can compete and be among the best.
