Visual masterpieces are aplenty in 2018 and these songs are the best of the best in the year that was. From pop songs, alternative singles and dance tracks, each of these videos made viewing pleasure much wonderful in 2018.
1. Fake Love - BTS
"Fake Love" is a brilliant music video that spells greatness in all aspects. Its great visuals and outstanding narrative successfully woven into a visual spectacle are few of the things this video did great. How the emotion of the song was perfectly portrayed with every shot can simply put everyone in awe. BTS is really a great storyteller not just in their songs but also with their videos.
2. Apeshit - The Carters
The royal pair of the music industry - Beyonce and Jay-Z combined to provide a dramatic and artsy music video for the ages. While the single itself was not as commercially successful as their prior collabs, it was truly an artistic masterpiece with great cinematography and outstanding choreography.
3. Girls Like You - Maroon 5 ft. Cardi B
Combining several artists in one music video is a feat of its own but the way "Girls Like You" did it made it even more impressive. The panning and continuous camera rotations gave the feel of fluidity and dynamics. Adam Levine at the center of the video is joined by female superstars like J.Lo, Ellen Degeneres, Gal Gadot and a slew of other famous lady stars.
4. Without Me - Halsey
This is an emotional music video that can really touch your heart. And when combined with the heart-felt performance of Halsey, this is arguably one of the best videos of 2018. Halsey is a beautiful lady and her presence made the video much more wonderful.
5. All The Stars - Kendrick Lamar & SZA
Visually compelling may be the best words to sum up this music video. This Black Panther song gives us visuals that are done in class and fashion. Simplistic formula but works all the time.
6. God's Plan - Drake
This video is more of continuous narrative of shots of Drake helping people. While the concept and idea itself has been used for some time already, it is still worthy of praise due to its grounded approach which amplified the meaning of the song itself.
7. Love Lies - Khalid and Normani
Two gems combined into one video spectacle. Khalid and Normani showed their prowess in this music video and is one of the more watched collaborations of the past year.
8. This Is America - Childish Gambino
Somehow controversial in its thematic approach, Childish Gambino managed to stir the pot anew with the music video for "This Is America". It is a bold statement but done in a very artistic way showing the realness of human nature.
9. God is a Woman - Ariana Grande
This is literally visual orgasm to the highest level. Ariana Grande once more hit it bigtime and while this video has been cited for its somehow daring and seemingly doubled-meaning shots, it is still a great piece that made a lot of audiences glued to their screens.
10. Finesse - Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B
The song itself is highly commendable with the traditional urban hip-hop feels and with the release of its video, it instantly became a hit as well. The video pays homage to the popular FOX sketch comedy television series In Living Color and was a success to critics and audiences alike.
11. Idol - BTS ft. Nicki Minaj
Idol's strength lies on how strong the visuals are. This music video is a literal eruption of colors from start to finish. The way Korean and Western culture was woven into one was indeed something to be praised of. And what more can we expect from BTS but greatness.
12. In My Blood - Shawn Mendes
Pallets of gray, black and white was the main focus of this newest video from Shawn Mendes. In here, he decided to take a simplistic but more real feels with his video. It was emotional and very real and Shawn shows that he is the real deal.
13. Call Out My Name - The Weeknd
The Weeknd always gives us great videos to watch and "Call Out My Name" is of no exception. His latest music video draw strength on the depth of emotions and the strong color grading and cinematography. This is another success for this talented artist.
14. Make Me Feel - Janelle MonĂ¡e
Janelle Monae may be one of the most underrated music artists of this generation but she never fails to deliver songs with strong message and videos with great quality. "Make Me Feel" did just that and we simply can't help but marvel on its greatness.
15. X - Nicky Jam & J Balvin
Prepare to dance and groove it out with this newest video from J Balvin and Nicky Jam. This is one of the great videos of 2018 that one would not get tired of watching.
16. High Hopes - Panic! At the Disco
Panic! At the Disco always pushes boundaries in its songs and videos and "High Hopes" keeps the trend. The visuals are great and unbelievable and how well it was edited translated into one of the music video gems of 2018.
17. Delicate - Taylor Swift
"Delicate" gave us a very grounded and simple Taylor Swift. We are shown a certain degree of frailty and being human to Taylor which makes it a very endearing music video.
18. Youngblood - 5 Seconds of Summer
5 Seconds of Summer's approach in its music video was plain and simple - get the message across and focus on them as the stars. "Youngblood" was plain and simple and it worked well to its favor.
19. Thank You Next - Ariana Grande
With some recreations to the iconic "Mean Girls" film, Ariana Grande landed another hit in 2018. The fun and bubbly video is arguably one of the most fun to watch in the past year and there was a certain degree of nostalgia that made it really work.
20. No Brainer - DJ Khaled featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo
Big music stars in one video - Check! Great song - Check! In this type of music,we can all say DJ Khaled knows how to magnificently balance the presence of stars to make a wonderful music video.
