2018 TOP KOREANOVELAS

Here are the top Koreanovelas of 2018.

1. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?
This is my favorite drama of 2018. Although the storyline is quite simple and has been used so many times already, it is the simplicity that makes it stand out. The great chemistry of the two leads - the gorgeously handsome Park Seo-joon and Park Min Young is palpable. You can feel the "kilig" moments and for sure warmed the hearts of many viewers.

2. Something In The Rain
The series explores the relationship of two people as they go from being "just acquaintances" to "a genuine couple". The strength if this series is the color grading and cinematography that makes us feel immersed in the moment of a blossoming love. Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in stars in this Korean drama.

3. I'm Not A Robot
This Koreanovela is one of most watched series of the past year. Just when you thought that the idea of a robot-human relationship would not appeal then we are sent into a whirlpool of emotions as the two perfectly human leads shared great chemistry on the screen. Yoo Seung-ho and Chae Soo-bin's screen time together is really commendable.

4. My ID is Gangnam Beauty
Skin deep beauty and the reality of one's emotion is focused on this series. It shows us that feeling love is not solely based on physical appearances but the truthfulness of one's emotions. This is one enjoyable watch from 2018 and Cha Eun-woo is plain hot and handsome.

5. Suits
Based on the American series of the same name, this Korean drama excelled on its own and is a perfect alternative to the romantic love story crowded Koreanovela landscape. Starring Jang Dong-gun and Park Hyung-sik, the two actors were both standouts in their role portrayal.

6. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes
One of the few melodramas that made me shed a tear or two, this series excelled in a way that can touch your heart. Your smile will surely leave your eyes as this is not for the faint-hearted. The scenes and story line brings a certain degree of pain and pinching emotions to one's heart building on the tragic events of one's life.

7. Hwayugi: A Korean Odyssey
I am not a big fan of fantasy television series but upon seeing the trailer for this show, I could not help but watch and I was hooked. It successfully combines fantasy, romance, comedy and a bit of horror in enjoyable spectacle of episodes. The cinematography and effects were solid and can put you in awe. And did I forget to say that Lee Seung-gi stars on this one? I guess that is one good enough reason to watch.

8. Clean with Passion for Now
Kim Yoo-jung, Yoon Kyun-sang and Song Jae-rim stars in this romantic and light-hearted series that gives us another wonderful take on two complete opposites and how they find love with each other. The plot's simplicity and the great intertwined stories of each of the characters simply made this show one of the best binge watching pleasures of 2018. And while the series has only aired 10 episodes in 2018, it still managed to grab a solid following with netizens.

9. Accidentally In Love
This Chinese drama also made buzz all over 2018 and for a good reason. The constant bickering of the two leads often bring laughter and sweet moments and was indeed an enjoyable viewing pleasure.

10. Are You Human?
Seo Kang-jun and Gong Seung-yeon stars in this Korean series. In a mixture of fiction and mystery injected with the right amount of romance, this show can somehow make you lost at some moments but with every build up and succeeding episode, it will grow into you and enjoy it as a whole.

11. 100 Days My Prince
Being sixth highest-rated Korean drama in cable television in history made me give this series a shot. I am not super fond of historical themed Asianovelas but I would have to say that this series is fairly enjoyable. One would definitely enjoy the breath-taking landscape and location used in this drama as if you are really part of the story.

12. Encounter
This series focuses on the story of fate and decisions one makes to be in a relationship. Park Bo-gum as usual shines in his role which is nothing of a surprise. And he remains to be one of the most handsome guys in Korean industry.

13. Top Management
This web TV series focuses on the lives of idols and stars one of the hottest guys in town Cha eun-woo and makes us join the lives of Kpop and the intricacies of the Kpop industry as a whole.

14. Welcome to Waikiki
This series is one of the few comedies that really made it big in 2018. And you could burst into laughs every now and then if you watch this show. And as a proof of its great success, it is scheduled to have second season this 2019.

15. Radio Romance
Our definition of "perfection" can be different from one another and it is greatly shown in this romance from Korea. The series has its ups and downs but over-all makes for a good series as a whole. And with a nice soundtrack that includes songs from NCT U, I just could not resist.
