2018 TOP KPOP SONGS

2018 Kpop music scene has grown exponentially with several acts blasting towards not just the Korean music industry but also worldwide. Hits from BTS, Blackpink, Exo and Twice has lorded over the charts in the past year and here are my top picks for best songs of 2018.

1. Sudden Shower - Yong Jun Hyung ft 10cm

This powerful emotional piece is my most listened song from 2018. Yong Jun Hyung's vocals are so perfect for this song which is full of emotions and combined with the masterful rap skills of 10cm, this was one of the gems of the past year.

2. I.L.Y. - The Rose

Krock may not be as mainstream as the Kpop songs but The Rose is proving that there is beauty in this genre as well. This is one powerful ballad and the outstanding vocal chops of Kim Woo‑sung delivered a masterful and emotional song that touches anyone's heart.

3. Fake Love - BTS

BTS has triumphed once more. This time their energy-charged song "Fake Love" made a lot of fans really happy. And the boys also gave us a jaw-dropping music video that is well received by fans and critics alike.

4. Love Scenario - Ikon

Ikon gave us one of the best songs of 2018 with this catchy and infectious tune "Love Scenario". This wonderfully written single is one of the most listened Kpop songs all over the world and we hope to see more of Ikon this year.

5. Shine - Pentagon

Arguably on of the best tunes to be released in 2018, Pentagon delivered one single that made us all dance in unison. Having just debuted in 2016, the boys have already started to make a name in the Kpop music world.

6. Baby - The Rose

Well, I love The Rose so much and it shows that two of their songs in 2018 land in my top list. Their single "Baby" combines emotions and hard guitar riffs to make a compelling song that is truly the brand of this hot Krock group.

7. Egotistic - Mamamoo

My most loved female Kpop group is none other than Mamamoo and I only have praises for their single "Egotistic". The ladies delivered one of the most well-written song of the past year and is a constant tune played across all media platforms.

8. Only One For Me - BtoB

BtoB may be one of the underrated Kpop boy groups in this generation but surely they deliver great songs and "Only One For Me" is of no exception. This song is one that has all the right lyrics and tunes that everyone should take a listen to.

9. Shoot Me - Day6

"Shoot Me" was a breakthrough hit for Day6 and fans were all roaring with such a hard-hitting song. The boys delivered a powerful song that is one of the most liked singles of 2018.

10. Airplane - J-Hope

J-Hope proved his commercial viability with the release of his solo singles in 2018. One of which is "Airplane" which ruled several music charts worldwide. And we can't help but dance along with this nice beat.

11. Soulmate - Zico ft. IU

IU is one of the legends of the music industry and remains to be one of the best female vocalists until now. This collaboration with Zico is such a treasure and is an easy listening pleasure to everyone.

12. RBB (Really Bad Boy) - Red Velvet

Red Velvet continues to rise up the ranks in the world of Kpop and their strong year was punctuated with the release of their hit single "RBB (Really Bad Boy)". The girls proved that their are one of those with both the pop tunes and the edge feel in terms of musicality.

13. Lullaby - Got7 (Tie)

Got7 is not as successful as other boy groups but they have a solid following not just in Korea but also all over the world. Their "Lullaby" song was an instant hit and is a well-loved dance tune in 2018.

13. Don't Give It To Me - Hwasa and Loco (Tie)
Hwasa and Loco made one of the best collaborations of 2018 with this catchy pop tune. The two's chemistry is evident and the soothing vocals of Hwasa complemented the great rap props of Loco. Truly a wonderful collaboration.

14. Hann (Alone) - (G)-I-Dle

Hann (Alone) received success in terms of airplays and streams. With this, (G)-I-Dle has proven that they belong with the greats of today's music scene.

15. Latata - (G)-I-Dle

Another chart-topper from (G)-I-Dle is the infectious tune "Latata" which definitely made everyone dance non-stop in the year that was. And the girls also gave us a great video to accompany the release of this hit single much to the delight of their fans.

16. Daydream - J-Hope

The other song from J-hope in 2018 also hit it bigtime. "Daydream" shows once more how his colorful personality shines in both his lyrics and also the video released for this single.

17. Love Shot - Exo

This became one of the dance craze in the Philippines and one of the few songs that elicited several dance covers. Exo's "Love Shot" is one of their best recent songs.

18. Honestly - Eric Nam

Eric Nam is such a loveable person. With his great looks and a great vocal range, there is nothing not to love about him. "Honestly" gave avid fans something to rejoice as he continues to rise among the ranks of the male vocalists in Korea.

19. Starry Night - Mamamoo
Mamamoo never fails to deliver great singles and in 2018 we were treated with some of their best songs to date. "Starry Night" was well received and their dance moves were truly on point.

20. I.P.U. - Wanna One

There is no arguing about the level of talent of Wanna One and the boys are showing that they can match the big boys in terms of songs and choreography. Their song "I.P.U." together with its video was well lover by their fans.

21. Idol - BTS ft. Nicki Minaj

This is one of the surprise collaborations of 2018 and ARMYs welcomed it with both arms. "Idol" combined the strong vocals of BTS and the wonderful rapping skills of Nicki Minaj which delivered them one of their best hits in Billboard Hot 100.

22. What Is Love? - Twice

Twice is definitely one of the best female groups in Kpop industry. And 2018 saw them deliver good songs which were hits both commercially and among critics. Their strongest hit from last year is "What Is Love?" which delivered us some of the most fun dance choreographies of 2018.

23. Wind Flower - Mamamoo

Wind Flower may not be as commercially successful as the other Mamamoo singles in 2018 but it was still one of the best songs of the past year. The song showed how great the range of the ladies is and has proven their strong vocal chops.

24. Solo - Jennie (Blackpink)

Jennie of Blackpink delivered one of the mist loved singles of 2018. "Solo" has proven that Jennie is a force to be reckoned with may it be with her group Blackpink or being solo.

25. I Love You - EXID

EXID's "I Love You" delivered one of the best hits for the ladies in 2018 and in their entire career.

26. BBIBBI - IU

IU is IU and she is simply great in whatever things she does. The actress-singer gave us another hit in "BBIBBI" which further solidified her status as one of the queens of Kpop.

27. My Pace - Stray Kids

Stray Kids joins a long list of Kpop boy groups that made a great 2018. Their superb single "My Pace" was both an eargasmic experience and a visual spectacle with such a powerful video.

28. Ddu-du Ddu-du - Blackpink

One of the most viewed music videos of the year, Blackpink hits it big with their single "Ddu-du Ddu-du". This single made their presence felt in the Billboard Hot 100 and all other music charts worldwide.

29. Power Up - Red Velvet

"Power Up" is the hottest single from red Velvet in 2018.

30. Siren - Sunmi

Sunmi again challenges norms in terms of her sound and music video and "Siren" delivered once more for her in 2018.
