MOVIE REVIEW: TROLLS

Dreamworks' Trolls is one of the many animated movies to debut in cinemas this 2016. And for such a long loved character, this movie may be seen as relatively long overdue. Nonetheless, the movie did not fail to impress as it delivered what it was expected to give which is happy moments and just wonderful moments of blissful joy.

Featuring the voices of Anna Kendrick as Princess Poppy and Justin Timberlake as Branch, the two main characters in the movie, nothing more can be asked from at the onset. Add the wonderful ensemble of voice cast which includes Zooey Deschanel as Bridget, Russel Brand as Creek and Gwen Stefani as DJ Suki and you have one great animated musical. Every moment was filled with spectacular performances that boasts of great musicality and wonderful colors. If you are have loved the songs from 80's and 90's you may be familiar with most of the songs used in the film from "The Sound of Silence", "I'm Coming Out", "September", "Hello" and a wonderful duet version of "True Colors". Add that to the catchy beat "Can't Stop The Feeling" from Justin Timberlake and one will simply not get bored.

But aside from the great sound and music the makes the film stand out, Trolls also successfully delivered a story full of heart. It makes you realize that happiness is a choice and that it emanates from one's self. One has the choice to feel happy and be good about it. It did not show it on a fairy tale type of effect but instead show the complexities of life and how everyone feels and experiences life struggles. But one thing was obvious. The movie was there to inspire and let us see the inner lights within each one of us. True to the song, one should not stop the feeling of love and happiness. For with those emotions, life can be wonderful.

There were great moments where one would shed a tear or two but overall the film brings out the most brimming of smiles to everyone. Not the best animated film ever but definitely one note-worthy movie.  8.5 out of 10 popcorns!
